- Moodle allows a greater depth of customisation in terms of appearance, structure & functionality.
- Due to the open source nature of Moodle, there are no licensing costs.
- With Moodle, there's no vendor lock-in or contracts.
- There's a global network of individuals who continually develop and improve Moodle.
Flexibility of the Platform
Any good learning platform has to be flexible in the way it can be designed and the ways in which it can be used. Moodle isn't the only Learning Platform out there that has flexibility - but it is the one where this flexibility doesn't come at a significantly higher cost.
Key things that Moodle can do that other VLE's cannot:
- Can be hosted online or on an 'in house' server.
- Can enable integration of a variety of different school management systems, such as SIMS or Facility CMIS
- Coding and content types can be developed by the end user, enabling those who are technically minded to truly make the platform their own.
