How can WebAnywhere inspire learners?

It can ignite their energy and potential. When a pupil is given an aim to develop an exciting and innovative piece of work to be showcased on the website, there can be an amazing transformation. It gives a pupil that added confidence to perform to their highest standards, igniting their creativity and offering them a large platform in which to showcase their work.

How can WebAnywhere empower teachers?

The WebAnywhere developers schedule an initial training session with one of our qualified IT Trainers who will comprehensively train teachers and ensure they are confident with maintaining and developing the website individually. These training sessions take place either remotely or at your school. In addition to this as part of our website package we include a year’s technical support as standard so if you have any queries or questions we are always open for further advice whilst you are becoming proficient with the software.

A website enables teachers to provide a unique learning opportunity that may begin in the classroom yet it is a skill that will stretch far beyond the school walls. Teachers can enjoy making the most of pupils’ enthusiasm for the website to generate quality work and assessable opportunities.

Who can access my website?

Parents, peers and a world wide audience can access your website. Restrictions can be added if you wish to add a private space just for teachers. However the key aim of a website is to deliver information to the general public, therefore the more accessible your site is the more benefits you will reap.

How do I update and edit content on the website?

Your website will be built using a Content Management System (CMS) which will allow you to update and maintain your website. The CMS used is similar to a word document, where information can be typed or images can be dropped directly onto the screen and then published onto the live website. To edit content on the website the same process is followed. If you visit http://www.webanywhere.co.uk and click on the help sections, there are a number of video files which clearly explain and show how easy it is to update your website.

Where is the content I publish hosted?

Your website is LEA hosted. As part of the National Grid For Learning (NGfL), Local Education Authority (LEA's) offer a free domain name and web hosting for school websites. This means that your website will be placed on the internet in the correct location.

We already publish students work on our own web presence, what’s different about this?

WebAnywhere has developed its websites over the last 4 years, specifically for use in educational establishments, and is now being successfully used by over 1000 schools across the UK. Our managed service guarantees ease of use, a support network and access to a national school community. The WebAnywhere websites are much more than just a web page. We will provide you with all the tools you will need to become autonomous on the web, advice and comprehensive training to help you deliver an excellent website that will transform your students and get real results. What do I need to use the website? All our website packages come complete with the CMS system and installation onto two computers. However, the CMS System can be installed on more computers if needed but they must not be accessed at the same time. Initially your school must have ICT and internet access.
